Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
Your trust matters. This policy explains what information Elevo collects from verified students, how it is used, and the choices you have.
1. Data we collect
Account data: your name, university email, password (stored hashed), university, department, batch, semester, and student ID, which we use to verify enrollment and personalize your experience.
Content and activity: study materials you upload, posts, comments, reactions, messages, community memberships, and usage data such as views and downloads.
2. How we use your data
We use your data to operate Elevo: verifying student status, showing relevant courses and batchmates, delivering messages and notifications, preventing abuse, and improving the platform.
We do not sell your personal information. Analytics, if any, are aggregated and never used to identify individual students to third parties.
3. Sharing
Your profile (name, university, department, batch) and content you post are visible to other verified users as part of the network. Private data such as your student ID is restricted and never shown publicly.
We share data with infrastructure providers (hosting, database, email delivery) only as needed to run the service, and with authorities only where required by law.
4. Your controls
You can update your profile, batch, and preferences in Settings. You can delete your uploads there too.
You can delete your own account from Settings → Danger Zone → Delete my account. Deletion works in two stages: your account is deactivated immediately (hidden from other users), and you can cancel simply by logging back in within 30 days. If you don't log back in within 30 days, your account and personal data are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
Notification and email preferences can be managed in Settings and by unsubscribing from emails.
5. Security and retention
We apply access controls, encrypted connections, and row-level security to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong, unique password and report suspicious activity.
We retain account data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for safety, fraud prevention, and legal compliance. Study resources you upload may be retained in anonymized form (with no name or account attached) after your account is deleted, so other students can keep learning from them.
6. Contact
For privacy questions or requests (access, correction, deletion), contact Elevo support from within the app or via the contact listed on the landing page. We respond to verified requests within a reasonable time.
